February online conversation – 'Mobility drives conflict and insecurity'

Join our second rangeland myths online conversation of 2026, focused on the myth that ‘Mobility drives conflict and insecurity’ on Thursday, 26 February 2026 from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm GMT.
Speaker Teklehaymanot Weldemichel will open the conversation by sharing stories from his doctoral research, Life in Contested Lands: The Discourses and Practices of Mainstream Conservation in the Greater Serengeti Mara Ecosystem. He will discuss how the expansion of conservation spaces and the sedentarisation of pastoralists has also paradoxically led to the sedentarisation of wildlife.
The conversation will take place on Zoom and will be co-chaired by Mathilde Gingembre and Tafadzwa Dzingwe.
We warmly invite anyone with an interest in rangelands, pastoralism and myths about them, to join, share your stories and rethink how we ‘see’ rangelands and pastoralism. Register to join using the Eventbrite link below!
